Terms of Service

Version 0.2 (draft) · Effective Not yet in effect

These terms govern your use of The Watchman Challenge, operated by [LEGAL ENTITY] (“we”, “us”). By starting the intake you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not enrol.

1. What this service is

The Watchman Challenge is a 30-day self-directed program for men. You receive one challenge each morning by email or SMS, a check-in link each evening, a reflection on days 7, 14, 21 and 28, and a closing sequence on day 30.

2. What this service is not

This is not therapy, counselling, medical care, or a substitute for any of them. Nothing here diagnoses, treats, or manages any medical or mental health condition. Content is reviewed by a licensed counselor for safety, but reviewing content is not the practice of counselling and no therapeutic relationship is created between you and anyone involved.

This is not a crisis service. We do not monitor your account for emergencies, we do not respond to messages as they arrive, and nobody here will contact you personally. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or your local emergency number.

If you are currently working with a counselor, therapist, or physician, this program is intended to sit alongside that care and not to replace it. Discuss it with them if you are unsure.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You must complete the safety screening honestly. If your answers indicate you are in crisis, we will not enrol you, and we will show you crisis resources instead. That is a safety decision, not a judgement.
  • The pilot is limited to a small number of participants and to [STATES / JURISDICTIONS — Sheryl to rule, §11.6].

4. Messaging terms

When you enrol you choose to receive messages by SMS, email, or both.

  • Frequency: roughly two messages per day for 30 days — one in the morning window you select, one in the evening — plus occasional encouragement and reflection messages. Approximately 60 to 70 messages over a cycle.
  • Opt out: reply STOP to any SMS to stop all SMS immediately. Reply HELP for help. You can also switch to email or withdraw entirely at any time.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Consent to receive messages is not a condition of any purchase.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you write. You grant us only the permission needed to operate the program for you.

Your private journal entries are exactly that. They are encrypted, no member of our team has any way to read them, and they are never used to generate anything, never included in an export to the founders, and never sent to any model. Your weekly reflection is different and is read by our clinical lead — the interface tells you which is which every time.

6. Acceptable use

  • Do not use the service to harm yourself or anyone else.
  • Do not enrol on behalf of another person.
  • Do not attempt to access another participant’s information.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt, probe, or reverse engineer the service.

7. Your free month, and paying after it

Your first thirty days are free. A card is required to start, so that nothing interrupts you at the end of them. Nothing is charged during the free month.

After it, your plan continues at the price you chose when you signed up — $7.77 a month or $77.77 a year — unless you cancel. We email you a week before the first charge. You can cancel from your account in one click at any time; cancelling before the first charge means you pay nothing, and your thirty days carry on either way.

Payments that have been taken are not refunded.

8. Ending it

You can withdraw at any time, for any reason, without explaining yourself. We may end your participation if you breach these terms or if continuing would be unsafe. You can request deletion of your data at any point — see the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that messages will be delivered on time or at all — delivery depends on carriers and email providers outside our control.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of the service is limited to [AMOUNT — counsel to advise]. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell you before it takes effect, and the version number and effective date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to participate after that means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE / JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict of law rules.
